The Hobbit was started by Token during ww2 when he spent hours sitting in fox holes writing his own language's. Token only published 4 book's. The hobbit, the fellowship of the Ring, the two towers, and return of the King. After he passed his son Chris published the simamarin, the lost tales, many art books and sold the rights for the movies to be made.
George R Martin is still writing his seven book series Song of ice and fire with book 6 about to be released. The tv show which he helps write's is on season 4 which is part two of the third book.
Both are a struggle against evil not only with the enemy but within ourselves. With George's take good vs evil does not work out so black and white. No one can be truly evil and vice versa. Martin has endless foreshadowing not only in the plot but in character development.
Token tells the story in a way that feels endlessly familiar. Many feel that once a character is Introduced you know and relate to them right away. In this the story moves in a pace that the reader forget's they looking at a book and enters as a watcher among the plot. George's books have a mist of mystery about them. Picture your looking at a painting of a famous battle scene and no matter who many times you look at that painting you never stop finding something new. There is so much information thrown at you but yet in the content that you can't put down the book.
The biggest different is the content of perspective of the times is the view of the authors. Martin bring a nastier take on the human conditioning and morals. He points out that men in the end want few things in life. To make life and end it. Well women want power and to protect whats they have when you break it down. There are a lot of rape and destructive death scenes in the book alone besides the tv that goes far be one on the book to the extreme. Token's brings the hated of his evil character to the point of massive death scene and end's to loved characters that take your breath away.
In the end there is no way to pick a winner but to see them as two different works and take them as style's that have captured the attention and hearts of the world.
